The wild gay west and controversial film marketing in Hollywood

We’ve all heard all the controversy surrounding the Broke Back Mountain movie, and given all of that, it seems fair to point out that gay Hollywood is rewriting history a bit there. But when he discussed it with a gay man who said it was the best movie he had ever seen?

Yah, that comes to mind; Well, he pointed out to me that the Wild West wasn’t actually as wild as it seems and that Hollywood was the one who created it in the first place, see? Actually, the Wild West wasn’t wild, nor was it a bunch of homosexuals who rode horses around all day.

You see, the gay people of Hollywood didn’t rewrite true history, they rewrote a mythical Wild West to make a mark and make a good movie that would appeal to a certain segment of the population. Of course John Wayne would have said;

“Now for Crying Out Loud, what kind of horse blanket is that?”

The homosexuals are actually quite on the other side of the fence and loved the film immensely. However, in all this chaos and controversy, it looks like the film got a huge amount of free PR due to the controversy with the Catholic Church, as did The Da Vinci Code. So it was all good marketing in the end, no matter how you feel about a gay, more relaxed Wild West. Consider this in 2006.
